September update: the Hanoi journey, energy, quests and the memory passport

The first three stages in Hanoi, a free energy system, daily quests, an anonymous leaderboard, the memory passport and an English interface — everything that is in the game as of today.

This website has been brought in line with what is actually in the game. Here is a summary of what changed compared with the original description.

A journey through Vietnam's landmarks

Levels are no longer a generic "Level 1, 2, 3". Each stage is now tied to a real landmark, and the first release starts in Hanoi:

StageMazeLimitWhat is different
Hoan Kiem Lake4 × 430 secondsRoute highlighted on the map
Hanoi Flag Tower5 × 535 secondsRoute still highlighted
West Lake7 × 750 secondsMap only, find the route yourself

Reaching the exit shows a landmark card for 3 seconds with a fact about the place, and stamps it into your memory passport. Further landmarks will arrive as content packs downloaded inside the game, extending the journey without an app update.

The map preview has also been extended from 3 seconds to about 10 seconds; you can still re-open the map twice per run, 5 seconds each time, with the clock fully stopped while it is open.

Energy — free, and never for sale

This is the biggest change from Why Memory Maze has no ads and sells no coins: the game now does have an energy system, but one that keeps the original promise.

  • Each account holds up to 10 points of energy; every entry into a maze uses 1 point.
  • 1 point comes back every 15 minutes, entirely free.
  • Abandoning a run, or losing the connection for more than 60 seconds, returns that run's point.
  • To play in longer bursts you can buy an energy refill with coins in the shop: 30 coins restores 5 points, up to 5 refills held at a time.
  • Energy is never sold for real money and there are no ads to refill it. Coins are still earned only by playing.

Daily quests, leaderboard, passport

  • Daily quests: three small quests a day paying 8–12 coins each. Unfinished quests are kept for up to 3 days; completing them day after day builds a streak.
  • Leaderboard: best time per stage, kept by the server. Players appear under an anonymous name; no public profiles, no friend lists, no messaging.
  • Memory passport: a stamp for every landmark cleared and six milestone badges.

English, settings and accessibility

The game's interface is now available in Vietnamese and English, switchable on the Sign-in and Account screens. The Settings screen has separate sliders for sound effects, ambience and the wall-bump sound, a vibration toggle, and a reduced camera motion mode for players prone to motion sickness.

The virtual-items sections of the Terms of Use and Legal compliance pages have been updated accordingly.
